Kakizome (Calligraphy) Session

Kakizome is a traditional Japanese New Year’s custom held in Japan in early January each year. The words “kakizome (書初)”, literally “first writing”, is a Japanese term for the first calligraphy written at the beginning of a year. It usually contains New Year’s resolutions or well wishes.

Join instructor Rev Izumi to learn how to create a traditional kakizome. The lesson is on January 3, 2024, and runs from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. The class will be held in the large venue space located inside the Bunka Centre.
