Join us for a Setsubun celebration at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden this February 4 & 5!

Setsubun is a celebration of the changing of seasons in Japan as they welcome in spring by banishing Oni [demons] out and inviting good luck in. Traditionally Japanese families will have someone dress as an oni while other family members throw roasted soy beans at them while shouting "Oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi!" [bad luck out, good luck in].

Join us for special performances this Setsubun weekend:

  • Kaley Kinjo Blues/Jazz Mini Concerts @ 6:30-7PM & 7:30-8PM inside the Bunka Centre on February 4 & 5. Free for all to attend! 
  • Marc Vantol Taiko Drumming @ 6/7/8PM inside the Bunka Centre on February 4 & 5. Free for all to attend!
  • Sake Tasting with Sake Gami Corp @ 5/6/7PM inside the Bunka Centre on February 4 only. Advanced tickets required. Click here for more information

Music performances are free for the public to attend, masks are required and proof of COVID-19 vaccination required. Admission to the Winter Light Festival is separate and tickets can be purchased at the Bunka Centre when you arrive.
