Help us celebrate Setsubun this February with a sake tasting at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden!

Setsubun is a celebration of the changing of seasons in Japan as they welcome in spring by banishing Oni [demons] out and inviting good luck in. This February 4 we're celebrating this Japanese holiday with a special sake tasting with Washi from Sake Gami Inc! Sample three warm sakes and one dessert sake from different regions of Japan and learn how the different rice polishing rates change the flavours. Along with the sake, your ticket will include one individual zensa [appetizer] plate made by Mocha Cabana using locally sourced ingredients, and one admission to the Winter Light Festival!

If you see an Oni during your visit don't forget to throw roasted soy beans at them while shouting "Oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi!" [bad luck out, good luck in] to help us bring in the new season!

Sake presentation will be held inside the Bunka Centre at three different times. This is a limited capacity event and proof of Covid-19 vaccination and valid photo ID showing you are over 18 years of age is required. Masks are required unless actively eating or drinking.

February 4 @ 6 or 7PM
$35/person includes 4 sake samples, one individual charctuerie plate, and admission for one person to the Winter Light Festival
