Toro Nagashi

Toro Nagashi marks the end of Obon, a three day festival, where ancestors are celebrated. People invite the souls of their ancestors back into their homes to be honored. Obon stretches over 3 days in July or August (depending on which part of Japan one lives in). During Toro Nagashi floating lanterns are sent out into the water to light the way for ancestors as they are sent back.

During the Toro Nagashi night at Nikka Yuko guests will have the opportunity to decorate a lantern with the names of their ancestors and float them in the pond.
