Father's Day - Iaido, HIBIKIYA and yukata dressing

This Father's Day visit Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden
for an incredible array of art, culture and beauty. The Garden will be hosting
Dave Rathnow of Shin Ken Kai Dojo, located in Calgary, to demonstrate the
martial art of iaido. Watch the smooth control of the katana as it is drawn and
sheathed, and learn about the history of this unique Japanese art form.
At 3pm the Garden will host a taiko drumming performance by
HIBIKIYA. Their authentic taiko drumming style is sure to please the whole
During the afternoon, the Garden's hosts and hostess will be
running yukata dressing. Guests are invited to try on a yukata, kimono or happi
jacket. Starting at 1:00pm goign to 5:00pm. First come, First Serve basis.
There will also be an ikebana demonstration at 1:00pm with practitioner Cecile McCleary. Learn about this Japanese art for flower arranging.
Guide tours of the Garden occur at 10:00am, 2:00pm and 4:00pm
and start from the main gate.
