Opening Weekend - Featuring an evening screening of Karate Kid
Saturday, May 05, 2018
Time(s): 10:00AM - 7:00PM
Join us at Nikka Yuko
Japanese Garden as we open the gates for the 2018 season. The beauty and
splendor of spring lasts only a moment, so be sure to visit while the apple
trees are flowering and peonies are in bloom. There is also an incredible
lineup of art, cultural activities and fun.
The Garden will be hosting a kite decorating program. Decorate, fly and take
home your very own Japanese kite.
At 1pm, the Garden's master storyteller Tada Matsui will be sharing some
traditional Japanese folk stories and he will be joined by the Garden’s
maneki-neko (lucky greeting cat), Tomo the Cat.
During the afternoon, take part in the Garden’s yukata dressing program. Try on
the Garden’s incredible collection of yukata, kimono or happi jackets. This
program is ideal for taking beautiful photos around the Garden.
In the evening the Garden will be screening the original 1984 Karate Kid film. Guided tours will be offered at 10am, 2pm and 4pm.
