At the outbreak of WW2, over 20,000 Canadians of Japanese ancestry living on the west coast were labelled "enemy aliens". The Government of Canada enacted the war measured act and forcibly had the Japanese/Canadians removed from their homes and sent to hastily build internment camps in interior BC.

Visit West Kooenays, Castlegar (Doukhobour Centre), Slocan, New Denver (Japanese Garden and Internment Camp Centre), Sandon and Kaslo.
